Director Military Police Operations

The Director Military Police Operations (Dir MP Ops) is responsible for police and security operations within the CF Military Police Group. These responsibilities include:

Police Operations

Liaison

Dir MP Ops personnel communicate regularly with other police agencies on law enforcement matters of mutual interest. Dir MP Ops is the primary point of reference concerning Memoranda of Understanding entered into by any Military Police unit and civilian counterparts. Dir MP Ops also provides national level direction to all Military Police units regarding matters pertaining to the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).

Dir MP Ops also participates in the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police activities and obtains the latest on all law enforcement practices, new prevention programs, and changes to the Criminal Code.

It is responsible for the exchange of police information with other police agencies. This provides an opportunity to keep current on new law enforcement techniques or new technology while ensuring a standardized application of the law.

Criminal Intelligence

Strategic Criminal Intelligence is part of the Military Police proactive, intelligence-led approach to provide police services to the CF. The Military Police Criminal Intelligence Program analyzes constantly the environment and provides support necessary to enhance commanders’ ability to support the CF. Its mandate is to conduct trend analysis and make recommendations intended to create greater professionalism and efficiency within the MP Branch as a whole.

Security Operations

Dir MP Ops oversees the certification aspect of the Security Clearance Program (which includes both the Reliability Screening and the Security Clearance), the Security Awareness Program, monitoring and advice on NATO and International Security Issues, Security in Contracts and Plans, and Physical Security. Dir MP Ops also monitors the security violation process.
